docs: 📄 switch to MIT license, not CC-BY (#87)
# Description Since this is sorta software, it needs a software license. I originally used CC-BY, but looking at other copier repos, they use software licenses. This PR needs a quick review.

Creative Commons Corporation (“Creative Commons”) is not a law firm and
4-
does not provide legal services or legal advice. Distribution of
5-
Creative Commons public licenses does not create a lawyer-client or
6-
other relationship. Creative Commons makes its licenses and related
7-
information available on an “as-is” basis. Creative Commons gives no
8-
warranties regarding its licenses, any material licensed under their
9-
terms and conditions, or any related information. Creative Commons
10-
disclaims all liability for damages resulting from their use to the
11-
fullest extent possible.
12-
13-
**Using Creative Commons Public Licenses**
14-
15-
Creative Commons public licenses provide a standard set of terms and
16-
conditions that creators and other rights holders may use to share
17-
original works of authorship and other material subject to copyright and
18-
certain other rights specified in the public license below. The
19-
following considerations are for informational purposes only, are not
20-
exhaustive, and do not form part of our licenses.
21-
22-
- **Considerations for licensors:** Our public licenses are intended
23-
for use by those authorized to give the public permission to use
24-
material in ways otherwise restricted by copyright and certain other
25-
rights. Our licenses are irrevocable. Licensors should read and
26-
understand the terms and conditions of the license they choose
27-
before applying it. Licensors should also secure all rights
28-
necessary before applying our licenses so that the public can reuse
29-
the material as expected. Licensors should clearly mark any material
30-
not subject to the license. This includes other CC-licensed
31-
material, or material used under an exception or limitation to
32-
copyright. [More considerations for
33-
licensors](http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Considerations_for_licensors_and_licensees#Considerations_for_licensors).
34-
35-
- **Considerations for the public:** By using one of our public
36-
licenses, a licensor grants the public permission to use the
37-
licensed material under specified terms and conditions. If the
38-
licensor’s permission is not necessary for any reason–for example,
39-
because of any applicable exception or limitation to copyright–then
40-
that use is not regulated by the license. Our licenses grant only
41-
permissions under copyright and certain other rights that a licensor
42-
has authority to grant. Use of the licensed material may still be
43-
restricted for other reasons, including because others have
44-
copyright or other rights in the material. A licensor may make
45-
special requests, such as asking that all changes be marked or
46-
described. Although not required by our licenses, you are encouraged
47-
to respect those requests where reasonable. [More considerations for
48-
the
49-
public](http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Considerations_for_licensors_and_licensees#Considerations_for_licensees).

## Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License
52-
53-
By exercising the Licensed Rights (defined below), You accept and agree
54-
to be bound by the terms and conditions of this Creative Commons
55-
Attribution 4.0 International Public License ("Public License"). To the
56-
extent this Public License may be interpreted as a contract, You are
57-
granted the Licensed Rights in consideration of Your acceptance of these
58-
terms and conditions, and the Licensor grants You such rights in
59-
consideration of benefits the Licensor receives from making the Licensed
60-
Material available under these terms and conditions.
61-
62-
### Section 1 – Definitions.
63-
64-
a. **Adapted Material** means material subject to Copyright and Similar
65-
Rights that is derived from or based upon the Licensed Material and
66-
in which the Licensed Material is translated, altered, arranged,
67-
transformed, or otherwise modified in a manner requiring permission
68-
under the Copyright and Similar Rights held by the Licensor. For
69-
purposes of this Public License, where the Licensed Material is a
70-
musical work, performance, or sound recording, Adapted Material is
71-
always produced where the Licensed Material is synched in timed
72-
relation with a moving image.
73-
74-
b. **Adapter's License** means the license You apply to Your Copyright
75-
and Similar Rights in Your contributions to Adapted Material in
76-
accordance with the terms and conditions of this Public License.
77-
78-
c. **Copyright and Similar Rights** means copyright and/or similar
79-
rights closely related to copyright including, without limitation,
80-
performance, broadcast, sound recording, and Sui Generis Database
81-
Rights, without regard to how the rights are labeled or categorized.
82-
For purposes of this Public License, the rights specified in Section
83-
2(b)(1)-(2) are not Copyright and Similar Rights.
84-
85-
d. **Effective Technological Measures** means those measures that, in
86-
the absence of proper authority, may not be circumvented under laws
87-
fulfilling obligations under Article 11 of the WIPO Copyright Treaty
88-
adopted on December 20, 1996, and/or similar international
89-
agreements.
90-
91-
e. **Exceptions and Limitations** means fair use, fair dealing, and/or
92-
any other exception or limitation to Copyright and Similar Rights
93-
that applies to Your use of the Licensed Material.
94-
95-
f. **Licensed Material** means the artistic or literary work, database,
96-
or other material to which the Licensor applied this Public License.
97-
98-
g. **Licensed Rights** means the rights granted to You subject to the
99-
terms and conditions of this Public License, which are limited to
100-
all Copyright and Similar Rights that apply to Your use of the
101-
Licensed Material and that the Licensor has authority to license.
102-
103-
h. **Licensor** means the individual(s) or entity(ies) granting rights
104-
under this Public License.
105-
106-
i. **Share** means to provide material to the public by any means or
107-
process that requires permission under the Licensed Rights, such as
108-
reproduction, public display, public performance, distribution,
109-
dissemination, communication, or importation, and to make material
110-
available to the public including in ways that members of the public
111-
may access the material from a place and at a time individually
112-
chosen by them.
113-
114-
j. **Sui Generis Database Rights** means rights other than copyright
115-
resulting from Directive 96/9/EC of the European Parliament and of
116-
the Council of 11 March 1996 on the legal protection of databases,
117-
as amended and/or succeeded, as well as other essentially equivalent
118-
rights anywhere in the world.
119-
120-
k. **You** means the individual or entity exercising the Licensed
121-
Rights under this Public License. **Your** has a corresponding
122-
meaning.
123-
124-
### Section 2 – Scope.
125-
126-
a. ***License grant.***
127-
128-
1. Subject to the terms and conditions of this Public License, the
129-
Licensor hereby grants You a worldwide, royalty-free,
130-
non-sublicensable, non-exclusive, irrevocable license to
131-
exercise the Licensed Rights in the Licensed Material to:
132-
133-
A. reproduce and Share the Licensed Material, in whole or in
134-
part; and
135-
136-
B. produce, reproduce, and Share Adapted Material.
137-
138-
2. **Exceptions and Limitations.** For the avoidance of doubt,
139-
where Exceptions and Limitations apply to Your use, this Public
140-
License does not apply, and You do not need to comply with its
141-
terms and conditions.
142-
143-
3. **Term.** The term of this Public License is specified in
144-
Section 6(a).
145-
146-
4. **Media and formats; technical modifications allowed.** The
147-
Licensor authorizes You to exercise the Licensed Rights in all
148-
media and formats whether now known or hereafter created, and to
149-
make technical modifications necessary to do so. The Licensor
150-
waives and/or agrees not to assert any right or authority to
151-
forbid You from making technical modifications necessary to
152-
exercise the Licensed Rights, including technical modifications
153-
necessary to circumvent Effective Technological Measures. For
154-
purposes of this Public License, simply making modifications
155-
authorized by this Section 2(a)(4) never produces Adapted
156-
Material.
157-
158-
5. **Downstream recipients.**
159-
160-
A. **Offer from the Licensor – Licensed Material.** Every
161-
recipient of the Licensed Material automatically receives an
162-
offer from the Licensor to exercise the Licensed Rights under
163-
the terms and conditions of this Public License.
164-
165-
B. **No downstream restrictions.** You may not offer or impose
166-
any additional or different terms or conditions on, or apply any
167-
Effective Technological Measures to, the Licensed Material if
168-
doing so restricts exercise of the Licensed Rights by any
169-
recipient of the Licensed Material.
170-
171-
6. **No endorsement.** Nothing in this Public License constitutes
172-
or may be construed as permission to assert or imply that You
173-
are, or that Your use of the Licensed Material is, connected
174-
with, or sponsored, endorsed, or granted official status by, the
175-
Licensor or others designated to receive attribution as provided
176-
in Section 3(a)(1)(A)(i).
177-
178-
b. ***Other rights.***
179-
180-
1. Moral rights, such as the right of integrity, are not licensed
181-
under this Public License, nor are publicity, privacy, and/or
182-
other similar personality rights; however, to the extent
183-
possible, the Licensor waives and/or agrees not to assert any
184-
such rights held by the Licensor to the limited extent necessary
185-
to allow You to exercise the Licensed Rights, but not otherwise.
186-
187-
2. Patent and trademark rights are not licensed under this Public
188-
License.
189-
190-
3. To the extent possible, the Licensor waives any right to collect
191-
royalties from You for the exercise of the Licensed Rights,
192-
whether directly or through a collecting society under any
193-
voluntary or waivable statutory or compulsory licensing scheme.
194-
In all other cases the Licensor expressly reserves any right to
195-
collect such royalties.
196-
197-
### Section 3 – License Conditions.
198-
199-
Your exercise of the Licensed Rights is expressly made subject to the
200-
following conditions.
201-
202-
a. ***Attribution.***
203-
204-
1. If You Share the Licensed Material (including in modified form),
205-
You must:
206-
207-
A. retain the following if it is supplied by the Licensor with
208-
the Licensed Material:
209-
210-
i. identification of the creator(s) of the Licensed Material
211-
and any others designated to receive attribution, in any
212-
reasonable manner requested by the Licensor (including by
213-
pseudonym if designated);
214-
215-
ii. a copyright notice;
216-
217-
iii. a notice that refers to this Public License;
218-
219-
iv. a notice that refers to the disclaimer of warranties;
220-
221-
v. a URI or hyperlink to the Licensed Material to the extent
222-
reasonably practicable;
223-
224-
B. indicate if You modified the Licensed Material and retain an
225-
indication of any previous modifications; and
226-
227-
C. indicate the Licensed Material is licensed under this Public
228-
License, and include the text of, or the URI or hyperlink to,
229-
this Public License.
230-
231-
2. You may satisfy the conditions in Section 3(a)(1) in any
232-
reasonable manner based on the medium, means, and context in
233-
which You Share the Licensed Material. For example, it may be
234-
reasonable to satisfy the conditions by providing a URI or
235-
hyperlink to a resource that includes the required information.
236-
237-
3. If requested by the Licensor, You must remove any of the
238-
information required by Section 3(a)(1)(A) to the extent
239-
reasonably practicable.
240-
241-
4. If You Share Adapted Material You produce, the Adapter's License
242-
You apply must not prevent recipients of the Adapted Material
243-
from complying with this Public License.
244-
245-
### Section 4 – Sui Generis Database Rights.
246-
247-
Where the Licensed Rights include Sui Generis Database Rights that apply
248-
to Your use of the Licensed Material:
249-
250-
a. for the avoidance of doubt, Section 2(a)(1) grants You the right to
251-
extract, reuse, reproduce, and Share all or a substantial portion of
252-
the contents of the database;
253-
254-
b. if You include all or a substantial portion of the database contents
255-
in a database in which You have Sui Generis Database Rights, then
256-
the database in which You have Sui Generis Database Rights (but not
257-
its individual contents) is Adapted Material; and
258-
259-
c. You must comply with the conditions in Section 3(a) if You Share all
260-
or a substantial portion of the contents of the database.
261-
262-
For the avoidance of doubt, this Section 4 supplements and does not
263-
replace Your obligations under this Public License where the Licensed
264-
Rights include other Copyright and Similar Rights.
265-
266-
### Section 5 – Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability.
267-
268-
a. **Unless otherwise separately undertaken by the Licensor, to the
269-
extent possible, the Licensor offers the Licensed Material as-is and
270-
as-available, and makes no representations or warranties of any kind
271-
concerning the Licensed Material, whether express, implied,
272-
statutory, or other. This includes, without limitation, warranties
273-
of title, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose,
274-
non-infringement, absence of latent or other defects, accuracy, or
275-
the presence or absence of errors, whether or not known or
276-
discoverable. Where disclaimers of warranties are not allowed in
277-
full or in part, this disclaimer may not apply to You.**
278-
279-
b. **To the extent possible, in no event will the Licensor be liable to
280-
You on any legal theory (including, without limitation, negligence)
281-
or otherwise for any direct, special, indirect, incidental,
282-
consequential, punitive, exemplary, or other losses, costs,
283-
expenses, or damages arising out of this Public License or use of
284-
the Licensed Material, even if the Licensor has been advised of the
285-
possibility of such losses, costs, expenses, or damages. Where a
286-
limitation of liability is not allowed in full or in part, this
287-
limitation may not apply to You.**
288-
289-
c. The disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability provided
290-
above shall be interpreted in a manner that, to the extent possible,
291-
most closely approximates an absolute disclaimer and waiver of all
292-
liability.
293-
294-
### Section 6 – Term and Termination.
295-
296-
a. This Public License applies for the term of the Copyright and
297-
Similar Rights licensed here. However, if You fail to comply with
298-
this Public License, then Your rights under this Public License
299-
terminate automatically.
300-
301-
b. Where Your right to use the Licensed Material has terminated under
302-
Section 6(a), it reinstates:
303-
304-
1. automatically as of the date the violation is cured, provided it
305-
is cured within 30 days of Your discovery of the violation; or
306-
307-
2. upon express reinstatement by the Licensor.
308-
309-
For the avoidance of doubt, this Section 6(b) does not affect any
310-
right the Licensor may have to seek remedies for Your violations of
311-
this Public License.
312-
313-
c. For the avoidance of doubt, the Licensor may also offer the Licensed
314-
Material under separate terms or conditions or stop distributing the
315-
Licensed Material at any time; however, doing so will not terminate
316-
this Public License.
317-
318-
d. Sections 1, 5, 6, 7, and 8 survive termination of this Public
319-
License.
320-
321-
### Section 7 – Other Terms and Conditions.
322-
323-
a. The Licensor shall not be bound by any additional or different terms
324-
or conditions communicated by You unless expressly agreed.
325-
326-
b. Any arrangements, understandings, or agreements regarding the
327-
Licensed Material not stated herein are separate from and
328-
independent of the terms and conditions of this Public License.
329-
330-
### Section 8 – Interpretation.
331-
332-
a. For the avoidance of doubt, this Public License does not, and shall
333-
not be interpreted to, reduce, limit, restrict, or impose conditions
334-
on any use of the Licensed Material that could lawfully be made
335-
without permission under this Public License.
336-
337-
b. To the extent possible, if any provision of this Public License is
338-
deemed unenforceable, it shall be automatically reformed to the
339-
minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable. If the provision
340-
cannot be reformed, it shall be severed from this Public License
341-
without affecting the enforceability of the remaining terms and
342-
conditions.
343-
344-
c. No term or condition of this Public License will be waived and no
345-
failure to comply consented to unless expressly agreed to by the
346-
Licensor.
347-
348-
d. Nothing in this Public License constitutes or may be interpreted as
349-
a limitation upon, or waiver of, any privileges and immunities that
350-
apply to the Licensor or You, including from the legal processes of
351-
any jurisdiction or authority.
352-
353-
> Creative Commons is not a party to its public licenses.
