Description

One of the common points of confusion for new contributors is why CI doesn’t run automatically on their first PR. Since GitHub requires manual approval for CI on PRs from first-time contributors (for security reasons), this can look like something is broken or misconfigured.

The motivation behind this behavior is explained here :

To make this clearer and improve the experience, especially for first-time contributors, we could:

  • Add a CI workflow that automatically comments on these PRs, explaining the manual CI approval step.
  • Include a link to our contributing guidelines and a reminder about DCO requirements.
  • Add a label (e.g., first-time-contributor) so maintainers can easily identify and prioritize these PRs.

This would help reduce confusion and delays, and also make the project feel more welcoming and responsive to new contributors.
