Is there a way to share list privately?

There is a button "Share list", but it seems everyone can take a look if I host Watcharr on a public internet.
Is there a way I can have a link with unique access token to my list which I can revoke at any time?

Hi @l-you, unfortunately there is no such feature at the moment.

The closest you could get to that at the minute would be disabling sign up on your public instance, then only people who you've let sign up can see your list.

That isn't ideal and may not work for you though, I think this would be a great feature request. If you would like, feel free to file one as an issue (that way you can write in more detail how you'd like it to function), or if not, I can write one up based on this discussion.

I really enjoy using Watcharr and truly appreciate the technology stack you chose—Go + Svelte = ❤️.

There are many features I’d love to see in Watcharr, and I’d be happy to contribute when I have some free time.

Regarding the idea of lists, I might open an issue a bit later. As a quick note, I’d like to have a "token" feature for sharing lists. Here’s an outline of how it could work:

• The token is embedded into the link as a query parameter.
• Anyone with the link can view the shared list.
• A list of active tokens could be accessible in the profile "Settings" menu.
• Each token in settings should have a "Revoke" button to delete the token and remove access via the link.

I think something like this would work well.

I think another solution where you could have a private list, but also whitelist certain user accounts, allowing them to find you via search, etc, may also work nicely in addition to the tokens idea.

We could have it in the same section as the tokens.

We may also consider allowing for an expiry date to be set on the tokens.
