Do you think it would be possible to have a self-hosted version?

Yes absolutely.

Do you have Docker installed in your system?
If yes, create this Dockerfile file in the .devcontainer directory of this repo,

#.devcontainer/Dockerfile

FROM texlive/texlive:latest-full
RUN apt-get update && apt-get install -y \
    git perl \
    && rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/* \
    && apt-get clean \
    && apt-get autoremove -y \
    && rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/* \
    && rm -rf /tmp/* \
    && echo welcome to WebLaTeX

Then in your .devcontainer/devcontainer.json file, replace "image": "sanjibsen/weblatex:latest", with
"build": { "dockerfile": "Dockerfile" }, (in line 5)

You are good to go.
Let me know if you need any help. I can create another example repository which you can just clone if you want?

This is a interesting point. Would be great if it was part of the README as this is what I was looking for, as well.

Also, it would be great if we could be able to use both online VSCode and self-hosted.

But I assume that if we change the config, we can only use one of the other.

Any advice on how to setup to be able to do both?

Hello @AhmedThahir.

I don't know if I got your question right, but as far as I understood you:

Once you self-host, you can use "Live Share" from which you can get a shareable link, and start using online VS Code by getting into that link (Just don't click on "Open in VS Code").

I hope that suffices as an answer to your confusion.
