This issue corresponds to a lang-team design meeting proposal. It corresponds to a possible topic of discussion that may be scheduled for deeper discussion during one of our design meetings.

We had originally scheduled this for 2025-04-23, but then we pushed it. We ended up doing a bit of an impromptu discussion anyway, as people showed up for it as scheduled, and we learned some things about the interest various people had in interop work.

We'll move this back to "needs triage" so we can schedule this for a later slot.
