Driver for Mate200iD-4s

Dear Staff,
I am a student majoring in Human-Computer Interaction and currently interested in building a ROS environment based on Fanuc robotic arms. From what I understand, there is currently very little publicly available information on this subject, so I feel very fortunate to have come across your project.
I plan to purchase a Fanuc Mate200iD-4s robotic and subsequently set up a ROS environment to pursue work in human-computer interaction. I was delighted and excited to see that the project (ros-industrial/fanuc) includes the “fanuc_lrmate200id_support” file, which provides support for the Mate200iD-4s, and that this file has been maintained recently.

I would like to inquire whether the fanuc_driver included in the project is also applicable to the Mate200iD-4s.

I hereby declare that the work will only be used for academic research purposes and will not be used for any commercial purposes.

Both fanuc_driver and fanuc_driver_exp are manipulator agnostic.

In other words: as long as you are using a supported controller, it should work.

Note btw: Fanuc made an official ROS 2 driver available. You may want to reach out to them and ask them about it.

Hello, and thank you very much for your assistance.
I previously consulted with a local Fanuc sales representative regarding technical questions about ROS. They replied that they are not familiar with ROS technology, do not know about the driver, and have never encountered buyer demand in this area. Consequently, they mentioned that they need to submit a request to the headquarters in Japan for further clarification.

I would like to inquire whether the driver is publicly available on Fanuc’s official website for direct access, or if obtaining permission from the headquarters in Japan is necessary.

I'm not aware of needing special permission to buy the option / driver, but you do need to buy it -- at least in Europe. I don't know enough about other markets.

If I'm not mistaken, the ROS 2 driver is available as option S568 from Fanuc. Perhaps that would help your local branch office.
