UI becomes unresponsive at times

I can't find any rhyme or reason as to why/how it becomes unresponsive but often times clicking on things does not register anything. What is the best way to debug UI issues?

For at least one of my cases it seems the call to set_normalized_value doesn't update the value:

Something seemingly related. In Logic Pro the entire editor is frozen unless the transport is running and audio is running through the plugin. Perhaps this is related to clap-wrapper. I found #63 and using clap-wrapper for AU support.
