Comparison with arifwn/TinySuspender

How does the suspension of extension work compared to https://github.com/arifwn/TinySuspender ?

That one says:

All suspended background tabs are grouped within a single process, significantly reducing memory and cpu usage.

Is the same method used here?

Apart from the very handy migration from other suspenders (maybe you could also add the one above, or allow users to add their own strings?), are there any other reasons to prefer one over the other?

All of the Suspend & Discard extensions use basically the same techniques. There's none with any memory or CPU advantages as far as I know. It's all about the features and visual preference.

Migration

I will have an update Migration process coming in a few days. I will try to add a Migration for TinySuspender along with it. They're usually easy to add. The new interface will show you a list of Migrate-able tabs, and you can select which ones to Migrate or Convert.

...unfortunately I think that one is an incorrect claim. Chrome doesn't work that way. Indeed, suspending tabs will help Chrome free up memory resources, but that doesn't mean they're grouped under a single process.

Most of the other features TinySuspender lists are common to most of the extensions, including mine.

The big benefit though...

Discarding tabs ( instead of Suspending ) is far superior for freeing up memory resources, though. That's because it's using a feature of Chrome explicitly built to free resources. "Suspending" tabs was and still is a kinda "hack" before Discarding existed. For saving resources, Discarding is the way to go.

Suspending tabs has some great advantages, though. For example, Suspended tabs can have customized titles show up in the browser Tab, making them easy to identify. The website favicon can also be customized for identification. Discarded tabs cannot do this ( unless you're using Edge ).

Note, I will be adding tab "Suspending" to my extension soon - hopefully within a few days. So, you can have the best of both worlds by Discarding and/or Suspending tabs using The Great Tab Discarder!!
