Monitor activity instead of notification on completion of a task.

Is there some way to configure this so it monitors the activity and sends notifications.
Assume we are running a server and we want to receive a notification whenever something comes in the log.
Would be better if it could use capture-pane to display what the log was as well.

All i could make this work with is when a task has completed and terminates which is not really my use case and i have not found any other alternative.
