After updating to 20231210: problems with LCD-screen and Rotary Encoder stop/start

After updating to 20231210 I see the following problems:

1. stop/start with rotary encoder fails: when pushed the sound stops, but after a second or so it starts again. NB: stop/start with webGUI and app work normally.

2. my 24x4 LCD screen shows only the stop sign, and will not "run" (show play icon and show seconds) whatever state the player is in.

I just started again from the 20231128 image. It all worked ok. When I did the upgrade to 20231210 it was all wrong again, see above. That proves the cause of the problems is in the upgrade to 20231210.
