How does the snippet provider work?

i have been trying to add an option to disable snippets in the extension, i have tried adding a condition in the snippetCompletionProvider.ts file but it just doesnt work, also i tried changing the snippets in the server.json file but it didnt change the snippets when i loaded up the extension. please i need help.
