Problem
On Android, when using battery-only power (not plugged into charger), when the screen is off for an extended period of time, the Android OS will enter a power-saving mode called "Doze" which severely restricts all custom application activity, excluding calls, SMS and alarms.
This only occurs when the phone is on battery power.
When Doze mode is activated, the "Fred's Roadtrip Storyteller" app will not collect or announce new markers.
Solution
If you wish to exclude the app from the "doze" feature, you must turn off the battery optimizations manually.
