Fullscreen kiosk mode preview

Hi,

Has anyone found a solution to make the camera preview in fullscreen, so it can be used for kiosk mode applications?

Hi, not sure exactly how you'd like to do this, but I'd be tempted to run without X Windows and try something like:

from picamera2 import Picamera2, Preview

WIDTH = 1920
HEIGHT = 1200

picam2 = Picamera2()
config = picam2.create_preview_configuration({"size": (WIDTH, HEIGHT)})
picam2.configure(config)

picam2.start_preview(Preview.DRM, x=0, y=0, width=WIDTH, height=HEIGHT)
picam2.start()

Obviously replace WIDTH and HEIGHT by your own display size. Does that help at all?

Thanks. Can you share all of the following information?

• Raspberry Pi model, e.g. Raspberry Pi Zero, Raspberry Pi 5, ...
• Camera model, e.g. official Raspberry Pi camera v1, v2, v3 or something different
• Do you use Raspberry Pi Desktop or Lite version of Bookworm, i.e. do you boot into a graphical user interface or into the text terminal?
• The output of fbset (type fbset in the terminal). I'm mostly interested in the lines with mode, e.g. fbset | grep mode

I'm also curious what monitor you use, as your default width, height = 1072, 1440 seems to be portrait mode.
