Why straight contacts non-gnu

When I use straight to install my packages, I get the following:

$ cd "c:/Users/abhisek/AppData/Roaming/.emacs.d/straight/repos/"
$ "git" "clone" "--origin" "origin" "--no-checkout" "https://git.savannah.gnu.org/git/emacs/nongnu.git" "c:/Users/abhisek/AppData/Roaming/.emacs.d/straight/repos/nongnu-elpa/" "--single-branch"

Cloning into 'c:/Users/abhisek/AppData/Roaming/.emacs.d/straight/repos/nongnu-elpa'...
fatal: unable to access 'https://git.savannah.gnu.org/git/emacs/nongnu.git/': SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate

[Return code: 128]

$ cd "c:/Users/abhisek/AppData/Roaming/.emacs.d/straight/repos/nongnu-elpa/"
$ "git" "branch" "-r"

[File error while Setting current directory]

The site is blocked in my office laptop. But I do not seem to find why straight is contacting non-gnu.

1. Why does it clone non-gnu
2. How to disable this, so it only uses github?

Have you checked straight-recipe-repositories?

oh sorry, missed the notification. I was looking for these names, I found this. It looks for MELPA, GNU ELPA, and Emacsmirror. Now with the help of your comment, it is written here that the default value is (org-elpa melpa gnu-elpa-mirror el-get emacsmirror) which is wrong. I am getting (org-elpa melpa gnu-elpa-mirror nongnu-elpa el-get emacsmirror-mirror). you might want to update your documentation.

I need to go through later to find out how these recipe names are picked up.
