Why is dataclass's variable assert compared to the data class itself?

class TestExamDf:
    def test_exam_df(self):
        expected_df = pd.DataFrame({"test": [1]})
        assert exam_df.df.euqals(expected_df)

E       AssertionError: assert False
E        +  where False = <bound method NDFrame.equals of 
E        +    where <bound method NDFrame.equals of 
E        +      where  
Example(df=..).df

but

class TestExamDf:
    def test_exam_df(self):
        expected_df = pd.DataFrame({"test": [1]})
        _df = getattr(exam_df, "df")
        assert _df.df.euqals(expected_df)

is True

Not sure, but that does not seem pytest-specific... you might get more answers if you post to the pandas issue tracker, I believe.
