Describe the solution you'd like
A clear and concise description of what you want to happen.

  • Create new type of taxonomy or category layer for page content
  • This would allow for a page to live in a department menu and be categorized by a service category
  • Service categories would then be used to dynamically list content in a separate section, such as a "How do I", to help direct people to that page living in the department menu'
  • Would be great if the ability to select and manage service categories was limited to higher permissions such as admins
  • Categories would need to have parent and children (see draft categories)
  • Nice to have: enforce a limit of 10 child categories per parent

Front-end:

  • Service list widget with displays for list and card views
  • Filtering capabilities
  • Filter display looks like the leftside menu rather than the usual checkboxes
  • Nice to have: list view or card view has an option to display meta description of the pages being listed with a 155 character limit

Additional context

CA.gov services: https://www.ca.gov/services/

  • Adjust for a city, CA.gov links out a lot whereas a city would link to internal pages
  • We’d want to make categories and lists more userfriendly (see filter designed as menu as an option above)

Mini beta testing approach using other content types:

  • Still deciding if this should be called service list or action list
