• Discussion about Quartzsite release and versioning. Group voted to release Quartzsite as 1.0 for a variety of reasons. As noted by @Corvince Mesa is using semantic versioning and needs to update is contributing docs to reflect this.

  • @jackiekazil also went through several pulls and cancelled pulls to ensure she was capturing the changes in the release (120 Pulls!)

• Discussion on ensuring Mesa-geo mirrors approaches in Mesa to keep with the principle of least surprise

  • one challenge is that Mesa uses the cartesian origin (bottom left) while raster data typically follows row-column (upper left)
  • this also led to discussions about the gird implementation and the need to change the milestone title (was labelled as changes to get to 1.0)

• Goal is to have first complexity tutorial done by 1 September in time for new school year.

  • related is updating the SugarScape wikipedia article (which is outdated and has some errors)

• Improving visualizations to have a pure python implementation is still a high priority
  - we are waiting to hear on the NUMFOCS small development grant
  - @rht is going to focus on building jupyter compatible interfaces.

• Next Dev session will be a long-term medium term strategy session

  • based on most referrals form website to Mesa we are going to reach out to dmfarnell and Ng who wrote the Towards Data Science article.
