How to pass a variable to a term parameter?

Hello!
I'm using Fluent with this code:

-brand-status =
    { $status ->
        [true] ✅
       *[false] ✔️
    }

edit_post-pin_btn = { -brand-status(status: "true") } Закрепить

I want to substitute the variable status_pin instead of "true" so that the value is determined dynamically. I tried this:
edit_post-pin_btn = { -brand-status(status: "{ $status_pin }") } Закрепить

or

edit_post-pin_btn = { -brand-status(status: $status_pin) } Закрепить

or
edit_post-pin_btn = { -brand-status(status: "$status_pin") } Закрепить

None of this works. How to do it right?

I passed the variable directly and used it in the message like this:

brand-status =
    { $status_pin ->
        [true] ✅
       *[false] ✔️
    }

edit_post-pin_btn = { brand-status } Закрепить

This is by design, see #230 (might be good to add some more details about your use case to that ticket).

You can use a message reference instead of a term reference or duplicate the switch logic, see @m-xim's response.

Alternatively, you could inject a function BRAND_STATUS($status_pin) or move the emoji selection to your business logic (in JavaScript or whatever) and pass the emoji in as a variable, assuming it's the same for all languages.
