Localization of Positron #7018

As a Chinese Positron user, I would like to see Positron become localized to my native language, as well as other languages. Currently, we can use the VSCode language packs for the localization of the displayed language. Nevertheless, I note that many Positron-only features are missed out from these packs. I wonder if localization is in the current Positron roadmap? I guess a good starting point would be using tools such as (Transifex) to AI-translate most contents and have volunteers (such as myself) to improve on these translations later. |

We are definitely interested in this as well! We have been careful to localize user-facing strings as we work on Positron to allow the same kind of language packs to be created for Positron that similarly work for VS Code. In terms of timing, a lot of our UI is changing quite fast right now (especially around consoles, toolbars, etc) so my opinion is that today is not a good time to invest effort in localization. I think a better time to revisit this would be after we make a first official release and stabilize our UI. |
