But this is also relevant for 22.04 LTS

I don't know exactly what could be causing this problem. I also can't give you instructions for reproducing it because this problem only occurs on one of my machines. So I'm just trying to install pop os but I'm getting the following error in /tmp/installer.log:

[WARN distinst:crates/chroot/src/command.rs:99] rsync: change_dir "/cdrom/casper" failed: Not a directory (20)
[ERROR distinst:src/installer/state.rs:37] configuring chroot error: error creating recovery partition: command failed with exit status: exit status: 23
[ERROR distinst:src/installer/mod.rs:300] errored while installing system: error creating recovery partition: command failed with exit status: exit status: 23
[INFO distinst:ffi/src/installer.rs:188] Install error: error creating recovery partition: command failed with exit status: exit status: 23
