Standalone Field Groups

I've been using ACF Pro on some projects because of the ability to attach field groups to specific posts. I don't like how ACF works, but it fits a purpose in this case.

Has this ever been considered for Pods? I assume it has but can't find any discussion.

I would happily ditch ACF if this were available in Pods. Plus, I would guess that a lot of other people would then use Pods instead.
