[BUG] Unexpected response from the server. The status code is "NotFound

Expected behavior

After running any cmdlet I would expect a different answer that : Unexpected response from server, The status code is "NotFound"

Actual behavior

First of all, I'm connected with the cmdlet "Connect-PnPonline" and when I try various cmdlets (Get-PnpFile, Get-PnpList, Get-PnpSite, ...) I always received the same error : Unexpected response from the server. The content type of the response is "text/plain; charset=utf-8". The status code is "NotFound".

Steps to reproduce behavior

• Register an app registration with Register-PnPEntraIDAppForInteractiveLogin
• the app registration has "sites.selected" permission with defined admin consent
• Start-PnPTraceLog -WriteToConsole -WriteToLogStream -Level Debug
• $Connection = Connect-PnPOnline -Url "https:///sites/" -ClientId -Tenant -CertificatePath "./certificate.pfx" -CertificatePassword $secret -ReturnConnection
  Output : pwsh Information: 0 : 2025-06-23 10:13:33.6654 [Connect-PnPOnline] [19] [Debug] Connected 104ms 350aa454-080e-43b8-ba4f-ecaaf2cd3afc
• Get-PnPSite -Connection $Connection
  Output : Get-PnPSite: Unexpected response from the server. The content type of the response is "text/plain; charset=utf-8". The status code is "NotFound".

My goal is to retrieve file, Get-PnpFile as mentionned has the same behaviour

What is the version of the Cmdlet module you are running?

I tried 3.1.0 and the nightly build '3.1.66-nightly'

This seems like an issue with your app reg. Moving to discussion forums , not an issue with the module itself.

in my context, the consent on the permision is given by another team and I need only read permission

I got actually the permission Sharepoint/Sites.Selected with read permission on the target site

the graph permission seems to not be necessay anymore, do I need to request also microsoft.graph/Sites.selected permission ?

Yeah graph -> sites.selected is not usually necessary as we rely on SharePoint for most of the cmdlets

Is this really the solution. I have 2 VMs I am using for a customer. Both identical versions and both running PnP using the same app registration in Entra. They have both been fine until today, now one gives this error and the other doesn't. I dont have access to the Entra setup, I'm a consultant and my customer is a bank with very high security, so I can simply give or request additional access to test if thats it. The registration clearly works as one of my VMs is fine.
