Query on Site Design and Scripts

I have been asked to look at the scripts and site design on our tenant, if I use Sharepoint Powershell it doesn't retrieve any, however if I use get-pnpsitedesign and get-pnpsitescript it retrieves a site design and 2 scripts associated with it.

My question is that if I remove a script using remove-pnpscript will it break the sitedesign? or will the site design just remove the script from itself?

I'm having difficultly finding any tutorials on how this all works. I just need to disable the one script as it's no longer needed.

Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask this kind of question. MS have done their usual we don't support PNP when I raised the question with them.
