"Connect-PnPOnline: Host not reachable" error when using "-TransformationOnPrem"

A month ago I wrote a script that uses -TransformationOnPrem and it didnt work when i used latest version. a deep dive in google showed me that I had to use a different (older) version and when I installed that specific version everything worked.

However, my dev machine was reset and now I cannot find that gold tip to downgrade.
Can anyone:

1. tell me which version of pnp does not break when using -TransformationOnPrem
2. tell me why the current version of pnp not support -TransformationOnPrem despite it being available as an option?
