Set-PnPList -ClearSubscopes functionality

Hi,

Just working with some document libraries and wanted to clear the permissions on each item in the list back to inheriting the parent. I understand the clear sub scopes is designed to reset all children items back to the parent and set inheritance.

I was testing this theory out and was unable to output any material evidence for what the command is doing to the list items and wondered if there was any insight to how this works and what it is doing behind the scenes? Have I misunderstood this, or is there a increase wait time for it to take effect on a large library for example?
