React Lifecyle and onBeforeRender/onAfterRender

React has useEffect hook for component lifecycle methods, such as componentDidMount, componentDidUpdate and etc.

I notice Object3D in three.js has methods, onBeforeRender and onAfterRender.

I'm curious about

1. Do onBeforeRender and onAfterRender fire after componentDidMount or before?
2. How do the three js onBeforeRender/onAfterRender factor in the sequence of react component lifecycle?
3. If I want to make changes to object before rendering, say applying a new scale, should I do these operations in useEffect or onBeforeRender?
