PID controller for auger motor.

Is there a way to use the ESPHome PID controller on an Auger motor (on/off) only? The requirement as I understand it is for some type of proportional control output. But Auger motors don't work that way.

The alternative is to code a PID controller from scratch, but it's complicated.

Yes assuming it is moving the auger in response to temperature changes you can use esphome with pidclimate but the output would be "slow output" https://esphome.io/components/output/slow_pwm.html

This uses on/off to simulate a slow pwm.
