@quehill Thank you for today's Open Source Working Group meeting! We've created this discussion thread to track and discuss the progress on the World Bank OSL. Could you please provide additional information about the current status and conditions of the WB OSL? |

Hi @quehill @mah0001 @Holly-Transport @bpstewar. Opening code, opening access: The World Bank’s first open source software release this is fantastic news! 🎉 In light of this, would it be correct to interpret that the MIT License is now the preferred option over the previously used MPL 2.0 for open source projects? If so, would there be any implications or considerations in updating the license for BlackMarblePy from MPL 2.0 to MIT? Thanks again to OSPO for championing open access and open source at the Bank. I was proud to contribute to this work and it is great to see those efforts coming to fruition! |

The World Bank Open Source License (WB OSL) is a license used by the World Bank. It's designed to promote the use and sharing of software developed or funded by the World Bank while maintaining certain conditions and permissions for users. However, it is not clear whether WB OSL is ready for use or in which format. As a community, we are eager to take advantage of this option, for example, for enhancing our presence on GitHub. This discussion thread is for guidance on the World Bank OSL.
