Should TTW apply to be part of the Community leadership forum in ReSA?

Opening a discussion here to figure out if people agree with TTW participation in the CLF: https://www.researchsoft.org/community-leadership-forum/

ReSA’s vision by serving as a forum for community leaders to collaborate, share insights, and advance the research software ecosystem. It draws on the diverse expertise and perspectives of our stakeholders to ensure that decision-making is participatory and inclusive.

I think that TTW should be part of this forum for community leaders, and more over, that we could bring a lot of knowledge in participatory and inclusive decision-making.
I propose to apply myself as CM WG member in the open nomination, and feed back to the governance team in TTW.
Of course, happy for anyone else to step in if the team think that might be better or to join me!

Deadline for the open(self) nomination is 5th September, so I would like to have a discussion and decision by end of August if possible. please reply here with your thoughts or whether you have any objection🙏

Is there clarity on what the CLF offers and how community leaders like you will be supported to participate?

From my perspective, if this is a volunteer role, folks who are willing, have time and will find this opportunity useful should go ahead and apply. I appreciate you coordinating this for The Turing Way. I think someone from infra WG could make a good second rep.

Plans are rather vague tbh:

Identify a shared vision for the research software community, and could create longer-term outcomes such as development of a decadal plan for research software (see CODATA’s for research data)
Identify community priorities and ultimately assist in coordination to address these
Represent the research software community in broader international discussions of relevance to open science and/or open source scientific software, such as OECD, UNESCO, COARA, etc.

Time commitment

CLF representatives serve three-year terms, with an annual time commitment of approximately 5–10 hours. This includes attending 1–2 online meetings each year, as well as participating in asynchronous discussions. Members are expected to act as liaisons between the CLF and their stakeholder groups, bringing forward relevant perspectives, priorities, and insights to support inclusive leadership in the research software community.

Due to the low time commitment, I volunteer to coordinating. Unless someone opposes before deadline, I will spearheading TTW nomination, and I would definitely love to have a second rep :)
