I found Nadia Eghbal's report on open source sustainability models to be lucid, insightful, and inspiring. Hopefully relevant here. Nadia Eghbal. 2016. Summary
As we work to strengthen our Constitution and maintenance-level governance, and look for future funding and sustainability approaches, we are inviting ideas and collaborations from our community members
This issue aims to gather insights, examples, and resources related to successful long-term sustainability models for open science projects, particularly those that align with the spirit of The Turing Way. We want to learn from the wider community about what has worked well in other projects and explore how these models could potentially be adapted and integrated into The Turing Way's ongoing development and maintenance.
Understanding different successful models will help us identify potential funding streams, strengthen community engagement, improve our governance process, and inform the long-term sustainability of our community.
What kind of contributions are we looking for?
We invite you to share your ideas, examples, and resources related to long-term sustainability models that you believe have been effective for open science or similar community-driven projects. This could include:

Who can help?
All of you.
We are eager to learn from the diverse experiences of the wider community and gather inspiration from successful models outside of The Turing Way to inform our future planning.
