Hi Portainer team,

i have few questions/doubts about containers within Portainer.

1. When used stack deployment (through github) , can we add labels/attributes in docker-compose file so that we can hide/show few containers? as there is no control over containers start when used stack deployment
   as i know we can hide containers by -l flag , but how to use -l option when used stack deployment

2. Is there any way so that we can group containers

3. Is there any way we can customize or hide or add few more columns in container section inside Portainer, like instead of showing container names, show specific labels, start date

1. Yes you can do this, the below example compose file will add the label called hide to the container created by the service web01.

version: '3'
services:
  web01:
    image: nginx
    labels:
      hide: "hide this container"
  web02:
    image: nginx

After I set this label to be hidden in settings like below; the container is hidden from the UI

2. Containers that are part of a stack are grouped as services and their related tasks
   

3. Currently you have the ability to hide any of the columns shown using this columns menu, but there is not a way to add any

1. label 'hide 'i tried with portainer 1.22 version, its not working, probably i need to check with portainer 1.22.2

2. I created two stacks and all services and containers are running fine.
in stacks UI i can see two stacks
in containers UI i can see all containers irrespective of to which stack it belongs to. But i am thinking of some way/option so that in containers UI also we can group containers by stack name or by some parameter

All above are just suggestions, i really appreciate your work for developing such as great application (Portainer)

• For the label hide feature to work it requires both a name and a value, so make sure you are setting both in your compose file and providing both in the Hidden containers section of Portainer settings.

• In regards to your container grouping suggestion in the containers view; I think we could probably do more to visually define the 'grouped containers' when sorting by stack with shading or borders. Were you wanting to be able to filter the containers show, based on the stacks they belong to?

Here is a quick example of my visual grouping suggestion

• Hidden containers : working great ,
• There are containers running directly in device(endpoints) or running as a part of stack, so its difficult to group the containers by stack . I suggest, lets give privilege like Hidden containers, which helps us to group the containers (just an idea).
