Hi @sunjam ! Glad that you are asking. I thought we made a clear statement about OpenCloud already, but if that is missing something, let us pick that up. I don't like unanswered questions 😄 Purpose of OpenCloudProvide a OpenSource File Sync&Share and Collaboration solution which empowers people to achive digital data sovereignity. If you have watched the work of the team and the people behind openCloud, mostly our github history, you can see that this statement is not marketing but grounded on decades of OpenSource contribution. I personally do not like comparisons. That is not what drives us. We try to follow our intrinsic motivation and be in touch with people like you and others in the community and listen to you. On the other hand, we need to bring a company to life that enables us to gain real influence with our solution and that should serve as a foundation for us to create leverage for shaping data sovereignty in Germany and Europe. I have the feeling, that this is more important than ever before. Roadmap
Yes, we do. But we like to do more. That alone would be boring, wouldn't it? Our Roadmap is designed to be public and always available here As you can see, we are aiming to integrate Groupware and OpenTalk into OpenCloud and become the European Teams Alternative. DocumentationWe started from scratch with our Documentation in January 25. On docs.opencloud.eu you will find more and more content every week. It is a very agile approach. We are very happy about all contributions.
Good point! Currently out github discussions and the matrix channel are very active on DevOPS topics. Most people like to get their hands on OpenCloud and deploy it somewhere. I think, the urge to add community extensions will rise very soon. We already started on that 2 years ago when we were creating the Web Client Extensions Framework. Some Extensions like the Dicom Viewer or the Markdown Presentation Viewer have already been born. I hope i could bring some light into these topics. Feel free to ask for more! |

I want to encourage your team to build up a community around Opencloud. Without any sort of roadmap, #262 clear purpose for the fork, or additional community resources defined, I think you will greatly struggle to build a community base similar to Nextcloud.
Example, if your goal is to improve and expand OCIS for years to come under a permissive license... Just say that! And add documentation encouraging people in how to get involved beyond github discussions by contributing their own images or apps or whatever you think helps you embrace the open source community.
Best of luck.
