Issues with the App after Update on 22.01.25

Hi Clarius Team,

I’m experiencing some problems with the app since the update on January 22, 2025:

1.	Previously, we were able to export the raw data files from exams performed with the L15 and C3 probes into a single folder, which we assigned an ID. However, after the update, I encounter an error when attempting this. If I modify the export settings to enable saving files under separate series (see attached screenshot), the error disappears. However, we would prefer to have all files stored in one folder rather than split across multiple folders.
2.	Since the update, there seems to be an issue with the TGC information in the files. The data is no longer provided for every frame (see attached screenshot).

Hi Jonas,

1. Can you tell us how you build your exams to export - ie. multiple probes in one session, multiple applications, or just standard one probe/preset, collect data, and export study
2. Looks like the reason for this is the software is only documenting changes in the gain curve if they happen across frames, so your assumption can be the same curve is used for subsequent frames until it actually changes. Hint: to see a large variation, try moving around the probe alot across some anatomy.

The exam workflow is as follows (all in one exam):
1. C3 preset Abdomen: Large ROI, small ROI
2. L15 preset Breast: Large ROI, small ROI

I export the data on the iPad as DICOM (Picture 1).
Before the update, we had the “Separate Series” preference turned off, and all files were saved in one folder (see Picture 2). However, after the update, an error occurs when trying to export the data. It only saves the DICOM files and four TAR files instead of eight (see Picture 3).

When performing an exam with only the C3 preset (Abdomen, large ROI, small ROI), I also encounter an error. In this case, only the DICOM files are saved to the folder path (see Picture 4).

Regarding the TGC info issue:
Before the update, the TGC info was always saved, even when there were no changes (see Picture 5). Was the code changed so that the information is now saved only if it changes?

In one of the test exams, there is no TGC info in the first frames. Shouldn’t there be at least some info for the first frame? Additionally, in the frames that follow, the TGC info is saved for every frame, even though it did not change (see Picture 6).

For the export, I believe there was actually a bug in the previous version of software, it should not have exported 8 files, you will see, they actually double up, as there is a file exactly the same size. 4 captures + 4 raw data files makes sense.

For not seeing the raw data with a single application, I am not able to reproduce, perhaps double check that raw data was buffered during this case?

For TGC, indeed something changed, we'll have to investigate, but for now, make the assumption as stated before.

That is true, the issue with the duplicated TAR files is a bug, but so far, it hasn’t been a problem for us.

However, the bug still exists in the new update. When I turn on the “Separate Series” setting, it saves two DICOMs and four TAR files for the abdomen preset, and the same for the breast preset, even though there are only two recordings for both C3 and L15. However, the data saved in both folders is identical.

So, I believe that once the bug causing the duplicate file savings is fixed, the entire issue should be resolved.

And could you please also tell us the result of your TGC investigation? Because until then, we cannot conduct more patient examinations if we don’t know whether this change is an error or an intentional modification.

Strange, I'm not able to reproduce anything strange with separate series on or off, tested on a C3 and L7 with 2 captures each, images and raw data output to folders as expected.

For TGC, I have confirmed, if you don't see any data, please use the last curve for the timestamp that had the data. I can confirm that if there is no change, then there is nothing written, and when you do see repeating curves, it is because of the floating point precision used to check equality, which you would not see in the text having precision of 2 decimals places - probably could improve that later.

Based on what you have explained, for frames where no TGC information has been provided, the TGC data remains unchanged, and the data from the last available frame containing TGC information could be utilized. However, if the first frame does not contain any TGC information (as seen in the image), the question arises: how can the TGC data be determined for these frames?

We have examined these initial frames without TGC data and compared them with frames that do contain TGC information. Our analysis suggests that they are almost identical, implying that the TGC data has already been applied, even though it is the first frame and there was no prior TGC information available.

Regarding the exporting problem, I have recorded videos showing how we usually perform the process.

Saving it with “Separate Series” turned off results in the correct save operation, but an error occurs.

Saving it with “Separate Series” turned on prevents the error, but it incorrectly saves the raw files of both C3 and L15 in both folders.

For TGC, the data file has a baseline TGC, this would be used for initial frames that have not had the Auto algorithm alter the curve

for updates on the exports, im using a development version, and looks like it fixes the multiple files - ie. stored as should be. However I am able to reproduce the export error of images, not linked to series separation flag, but perhaps when the capture is prospective. If you could try to freeze and then press the capture video button, see if that helps with anything.

Is it the baseline TGC information from the YAML file? In another discussion, it was mentioned that this TGC is used when Auto Gain is set to off?

Yes, that would be the TGC that is set at very beginning before auto gain starts making changes.

I have one more question about the export function. There is another issue when I try to export an exam. If I use only one probe but have two recorded videos (regardless of whether they have a large or small ROI), an error occurs when I try to save the exam. In this case, only the DICOM files are saved, but not the TAR files. This happens when the separate series option is turned off. When it is turned on, the files are saved correctly.

This issue occurs when I use the L15 probe with the small organs preset or the C3 probe with the abdomen preset.

Is there an update in the pipeline to fix these issues? Thanks again for your help.

I wasn't able to reproduce using L15/small parts, captured 2 videos with RF mode buffered. Exported to DICOM and had 2 DICOM files and 2 TAR files.
Tested on Android and Desktop version 12.0.2 and about 1-2 second video clips.

Then it seems to be an issue with the iPad app.
