Need ideas for new chess variants using 12x12 squared boards 144 total squares either 2, 3, 4 or 5 player games

The club now has four 12x12 squared vinyl boards.

So we used one board recently to play Quaternity another 4 player chess variant.

Let us create our own chess variant with rules.

A 2 player game could introduce new pieces (Darth Vader, Gandalf, Stephen Hawking, Ada Lovelace, A Spartan, Sun Tzu etc.) or reuse existing chess pieces i.e. each color starts with 3 bishops, 3 Knights, 3 Rooks, 2 queens, 1 King and 12 pawns etc.

So a 5 player game could have a stronger but smaller in number Viking army in the center with the 4 other armies placed in the corners.
