Not enough models into AI Foundry Project's model catalog

Hi everyone.

• Microsoft is asking to create by default for new projects an AI Foundry Project (instead of an Hub based project).
• Unfortunately, there's only 95 models avalaible in an AI Foundry Project's model catalog (vs 11104 models for the previous Hub based project!).
• Is there any plan to add more models into the AI Foundry Project model catalog ? Or should we maintain a legacy Hub based project in order to only provide the entire Model catalog (including open source models) ?

• Having the same number of models into AI Foundry Project and AI Hub-based Project
• Not having to maintain an AI Hub-based Project only to leverage its model catalog

Current Workaround

• Creating and maintaining an AI Hub-based Project to leverage its model catalog and leveraring these models through an APIM that we can use on the AI Foundry Project.

Thanks so much for starting this Discussion thread @Messatsu92 - we have had this issue raised by others as well and there will be more guidance coming soon. In the meantime, here are 2 resources to provide current guidance:

Build recap: new Azure AI Foundry resource, Developer APIs and Tools - gives you a sense for the two project types and a sense for where the platform is headed.

Which type of project do I need? - a quick lookup table to understand specific feature support in each. For instance, you can see that open-source models (e.g., 10K models from Hugging Face) are currently available only through hub-based projects. Screenshot below is from Jul 3, 2025 so please check the link directly for the most up-to-date information. If you have a specific model or variant that is of interest, do leave a note in the thread below.
