Unable to use Agents with models via API Management using connected resources.

Hi,

Context:
We currently have Azure OpenAI models exposed through API Management resource (APIM). With the introduction of the Azure AI Agents service, our goal is to enable Agents to consume these Azure OpenAI models via the existing APIM layer.

To achieve this, we deployed an AI Foundry resource and created an Azure OpenAI connection using the correct capabilityHost, properly configured through the Bicep property aiServicesConnections (ai-agent-service.zip).

The resource is successfully created, and the connection is established—we can see the models available behind APIM.

In the Chat Playground, these models work correctly with request/response interactions.

Issue:
When configuring an Agent with one of the models exposed via APIM, we consistently encounter an error whenever we try to interact with the Agent.

All resources are deployed in France Central.

We have not released support for models deployed behind APIM in the Agent service yet. Support is coming soon and requires filling out a form to allowlist your subscription for the feature. I will share in this chat once available. Thanks!
