Transfer existing translations from macro language to an individual language code?

Hello everyone,

The existing translations for an app I help to translate on Weblate currently use the macro language code (pt) for Portuguese.

Is there a way to

1. Shift all the (pt) translations to the individual language code (pt_PT)
2. Then delete all the existing (pt) strings
3. Finally, remove the (pt) translation option so no new translator can add it back in?

I looked through the Weblate documentation and could not find any solution, except possibly exporting all (pt) strings and importing them into the (pt_PT) component on Weblate, but would there be any extra steps or conflicts?

You can just rename the file (see https://docs.weblate.org/en/latest/faq.html#how-to-handle-renaming-translation-files), but that will loose history in Weblate.

PS: Using pt for generic Portuguese is still the preferred approach for most platforms. That way it will serve as Portuguese for anybody outside Brazil (assuming you also have pt_BR). Using pt_PT will make it available only for Portugal.
