Example Application to compare Attributes

Hello everyone, there's an idea on my mind which includes the following elements:

• A website where users can enter specific attributes like hobbies which are then secretly being stored and encrypted in the Nillion network
• Other users can find other people with the same hobbies while the matching happens via a secure matching mechanism which does not disclose the hobbies, but just shows if people are matching by their hobbies

Now I'd like to know...

• how I can make sure that the hobbies of the user who enters them are not being exposed either to my server nor to anyone else
• how the matching can be done without disclosing information about the user#s hobbies
• how a huge amount of matching calculations can be done in parallel to deliver quic results
• which tech stack you would use to create such an application.

Did anyone here implement anything similar in the past?

Hi there, looks like an interesting use case!

NilVM mainly handles the encrypted storage and secure computation. This can handle permissions / access control. sees your secrets.

Re: the secure matching mechanism , this is something you will have to implement yourself. Also re: the large amount of matching, I would most likely do that with something else as it might become computationally expensive on the NilVM network

Thanks for your quick response, @crypblizz8. My question in that case would be how the securely stored data could be matched in a safe way. I am happy when I can store data safely, but when the matching needs to be done on the webserver, the matched data would be exposed again.

If there would be a way to not only store the hobbies securely but also to have a secure matching mechanism, an auditor of the platform would see that the platform itself is not able to see the hobbies of it's users.

Do you know any way to implement something like that or do you have any recommendations? Thanks again for your feedback.
