Tempo time formats and precision

Hello,

I am working on some astrodynamics functionality in Julia, (I am new to Julia, I just started working in it about a month ago, and love it so far).  I will need the ability to handle time in many systems and formats for IO, but for computational purposes need to work in MJD/JD , in single float and a precision time with two floats that is accurate to sub nanoseconds.  Reading the docs, most of the examples are in Gregorian string format.  I read the code briefly and my understanding is internally time is stored and manipulated in two floats which is perfect for precision.  I don't see obvious user interfaces that let one work in time in JD/MJD  (what I need most of the time), and precision time with two floats.  Am I correct, or I am missing something?  If there are not interfaces to support that now (it looks the numerics would already support it), how difficult is that to add? I might help out as there is a lot of good work here, and I'd rather build on it than start from scratch.
