Description of issue

The QGIS cask installs an old version of the software on mac and does not install the arm native version. The only way to install an up to date version is macports which isn't safe to install concurrently with homebrew. Users using homebrew are stuck with the old software and cannot update due to homebrew's limitations.

Hi @daeho-ro - Thanks a lot for your answer - I understand that this is partly on QGIS for not updating their installers. But if the latest version can be installed through macports - is there not a way for it also to be installed via homebrew? Can there not be a homebrew cask that is analogous to the macports installation?

MacPorts builds it from source. We are simply pointing to upstream's distributed binary.
