Unable to boot installer - Failed to start up manager

The installer iso stops booting, and when hiding Plymouth, it says:

         Starting Switch Root...
[!!!!!!] Failed to start up manager.
systemd[1]: Freezing execution.

Installer medium:

• AerynOS-2025.03-GNOME-x86_64.iso
• Verified the sha265
• Flashed to USB stick with dd, without errors

System information:

• Acer Aspire E5-773G
• Intel i5-6200U
• UEFI is enabled
• Secure boot is disabled

This could be relevant: When trying to power off the system by pressing and holding the power button while it is stuck in this state, I get this error. Continuing to hold it for a couple more seconds eventually shuts it off. (The error is shown twice here because I tried powering it off twice)

This error did not show when I tried powering it off in previous boots.

Tried to install install AerynOS using the same ISO as OP on a Lenovo Yoga 260. Flashed to USB device with Balena Etcher.
Getting exact same error upon booting the flashed USB device.

flashing with dd command sudo dd if=AerynOS-2025.03-GNOME-x86_64.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=4M conv=fsync oflag=direct status=progress
fails to boot with error being unable to uncompress the kernel

using ventoy lets me get further but hangs at sulogin not found

using fedora media writer works well!
