As the project grows and after the 1.0.0 cut is released, there is a need to formalize a consistent backport policy for handling bug fixes, security patches, and other changes that need to be applied to previous releases. Aligning on this policy as a community will help streamline contributions and ensure clarity for maintainers and contributors alike.
