Updates do not restart UI due to multiple directories #753

Experienced

I was notified of an update to the Windows Desktop Edge client for OpenZiti; I "requested" the update and the program exited without further information.

After checking the service list, I can see the Ziti services are running. I can even manually restart the UI, and everything seems fine.

Looking at the update log, I see the following:

2024-11-06 14:35:45 - trying to find the UI to start
2024-11-06 14:35:45 - cannot start the UI. too many directories to search??? Found: 2 C:\Program Files (x86)\NetFoundry Inc,C:\Program Files (x86)\NetFoundry, Inc
2024-11-06 14:35:45 - ZitiUpgradeSentinel completed

Where I do in fact have both folders (one with a comma, one without):

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\NetFoundry Inc
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\NetFoundry, Inc

I did not create these folders. I assume the installer did.

Expected

The update restarts the UI no matter how many "directories" might have been created by past installations.

Recreation

  1. Create the above directory that is missing
  2. Run an update
