Flash Memory Node Mcu ESP8266

How much memory flash does the NodeMCU need for the fine dust sensor? 1MB oder 4MB?

For our firmware you need 4MB flash memory.
1 MB is used for the running firmware, the other 3M are for the config file and the files needed for the 2-step OTA updates.

I have a range problem, so I would like to use a NodeMcu with an external antenna, but it only has 1MB of flash. Is that definitely too little?
