Instrumenting Google App Engine code with Otel Python

Hi Team,
I am wondering if any one has tried instrumenting Python code running in GAE with OpenTelemetry. Something like:
GAE Python Code manual instrumentation with Otel ---> Central Otel Collector deployed outside of GAE, say GKE ----> Backend of choice, example Grafana

I am especially curious about performance implications of instrumenting latency sensitive workloads. Thing like :

1. Will OTEL workloads cause CPU throttling in the GAE instances 2. Cause business critical requests to wait longer than normal ?
