I would like a script that produce single metric and finish when it's done

a gauge value

is this possible or I have to use a create_observable_gauge and put a sleep at the end of my script ?

Why would you need a sleep for? Can you give us more context, please?

You could use force_flush/shutdown whichever is more appropriate, on provider to trigger the export instead of waiting for export cycle interval of PeriodicExportingMetricReader

Would it be correct to assume that this will not work with opentelemetry-python v1.11.0.03b1? Seems that the provider.force_flush() is not available in that release? At least it doesn't seem to be available in the AWS ADOT lambda layer that is using opentelemetry-python v1.11.0.03b1

provider.force_flush() will be available in versions v.1.12rc1 and onwards.
