Unable to pull metrics from vmware vCenter 8

Hello, I am trying to use otel-contrib to pull metrics from vCenter 8 and getting the below error:

vCenter 8 by default does not have the sdk path enabled.

Questions:

1. Is there anyway that otel can use vmware APIs rather than connecting to sdk?
2. Any other way apart from having telegraf or prometheus scrape the metrics and send it to otel?
