Cover Image in .md or .mdx blog

Can someone help/guide to use a cover image in .md based blog post.

I am using this blog template as it is.
The image: or cover: has not been working so far. I am trying to load an image that is locally stored in src/assets/image/

I am seeing demo posts in md that have this functionality working with image: tag , so must be something wrong with how I am doing it, hence closing this thread.
