Pygments for syntax highlighting

Is there anyway to use Pygments for syntax highlighting like minted package of LaTeX/ I see that Pygments does not have a TeX formatter so we will need to create a TeX formatter and then invoke Pygement for source code listings. I do not know enought plain TeX but I am trying to learn and see how I can create a set of macros which can make use of Pygments with OpTeX.
