Cache the API key when using the cmd: syntax

I use a password manager to store my API key, and I keep getting reprompted to enter my master password. Is it possible to cache the key within the extension?

Also, an aside, instead of the cmd: syntax, what if we used a list/table to store the command elements instead of a string?
